    Campaign Overview

#Together4Forests was an international campaign led by WWF-EPO and is geared towards ensuring further protection of the world’s forests.

The aim of the campaign was simple: To secure a strong, ambitious EU deforestation law to protect the world’s forests and other ecosystems – a law that would ensure that commodities and products placed on the European market are not linked to deforestation, forest degradation, ecosystem conversion or degradation nor to human rights violations.

    Outcomes & Results

Under the leadership of WWF-EPO, this campaign united 26 WWF national offices, and 220 NGOs from across the globe, mobilizing over 1.2 million citizens to support the adoption of an EU law that stops EU-driven deforestation. This collective effort led to the adoption of the world’s first law targeting global deforestation, which entered into force in June 2023, and is set to significantly reduce the EU’s footprint on nature.

Public engagement played a central role in the campaign, building on WWF’s two decades of forest conservation advocacy. Since 2020, more than 53,000 citizens sent letters to their ministers, while over 206,000 citizens sent personalised messages and memes to their Members of the European Parliament. The campaign also saw the backing of 78 companies, over 140 artists, and numerous renowned European scientists – all calling for decisive action to protect forests.
